I always thank my bus drivers. I like hearing other people thank them. It makes me feel like im around civilized adults, not the self centered students of which there are soooo many around here, being a university town.

I find being thanked for my job to be a tad patronizing and completely meaningless. To thank a bus driver simply for driving and stopping at the right place sounds equally patronizing to me unless the driver did more than that - like helping you off the bus with your groceries or something.
