I've had good luck with getting meds from insurers when mine doesn't cover it so that I can afford it or doesn't cover it. It's definitely worth a shot for her. The application for patient assistance is usually online on the drug manufacturers' webpage and I just include a letter explaining my financial situation. It's always worked for me.
