I'm glad your wife found a combo that works for her.

I was mis-diagnosed, with major depression for 10 years, then tentatively bipolar II, then bipolar I. I'm unfortunately still looking for exactly the right medication, and I also have a feeling that 10 years on the wrong medication was not at all helpful. So I've been searching again, another 10 years, 11 soon.

But, I am better off than when I started, and I have a diagnosis that fits. What happened to me was I got misdiagnosed me with major depression (could have diagnosed the bipolar at time, the signs were there, they didn't ask the right questions), and every following psychiatrist just went with the major depression diagnosis and didn't bother to do another diagnosis from the start, until my pdoc 10 years ago. I do think I'd be better off overall if I had gotten the right diagnosis to start with and if subsequent doctors had done a complete diagnostic workup, but I was young, I didn't know the system, no one around me was on psych meds, I figured the doctor knew what he was talking about, and he ended up being wrong.
