Jacq, I know that feeling. The tidal wave of pressure and responsibility pounding down on you as you stand, isolated and alone, in the barren expanse of your internal and external worlds. It's not fair that circumstances can be so cruel to someone already dealing with so much. And in the end there's only one thing you can do, press on with the knowledge that the circumstances will change.
Also take some solace in the fact that your full, compassionate heart is felt by so many and people can't help but love you (even if they are on opposite coasts).
Life is sometimes cold and hard and lonely but then, sometimes it isn't.
