I am slightly fortunate as I am an enrolled member of a federally recognized tribe and I live near another tribe that will work with me so I don't have to pay for services, however this does not extend to any emergency medical services I may require. My tribe will cover the costs but I have to call in before going in and get a referal and that is not an easy task so I do end up with medical bills for emergency services. Even if I lived closer to my tribe and brought those bills in it takes forever if at all for them to cover the cost. I have heard from other members that they are still trying to get the tribe to pay off their debts for emergency care.
