Mid-1990s. I think we had AOL. Later, in college (1996-2000), I had Prodigy. I don't even remember my first time online. Early on, I was in 12th grade, maybe 11th. I remember one time I opened up IE expecting the Yahoo search page and the Google search page popped up. I thought it was a virus.
I remember my parents got a 2nd phone line pretty quickly because internet usage (I have 2 siblings) was making the phone constantly busy, and my dad actually had his own business at home, using the home phone line. Now we're all moved out, everyone has cell phones, but for some unknown reason, my mom keeps the 2 phone lines. I think she prefers the 1st number for the business, the 2nd for other calls.
Remember how the internet companies would keep mailing you those CDs for a 1 month trial? I think AOL did it a lot. They wasted a lot of money with me. I wasn't about to change back and forth as I barely understood any internet technology.
And when eBay and Amazon started up, I thought, "Who would be dumb enough to order stuff off the internet?" Now, I do all my Christmas shopping online, mostly through Amazon.
