Hi divine. Jellied eels are a bit of an acquired taste. It's really the jelly that puts me off. The jelly is the cold, solidified stock and fat that the eels are boiled in. I would eels in a pie with gravy but hmm jellied eels not so much. like a lot of traditional things they're dying out along with 'pie and mash'. We still have a 'pie and mash' shop where i live cos a lot of people that live here came from the east end of london after the war ( like my parents) so it almost feels part of east london here and it's only probably 20 minutes on the train. The 'East End' has changed so much and is now full of 'hipsters'. It's lost a lot of character and characters from what i remember in the 70's. Shame really.
