I always find myself rehashing interactions with other people after they have occurred. Not intentionally, it seems to just naturally occur from some deeper level. For example, the other day I was at the grocery store in the supposed "express line" with only one other customer, an elderly woman, in front of me.
I should have known better.
It turned out that she had multiple issues to discuss with the checker, multiple problems with the groceries she was buying, and a problem with the gift card she was trying to use.
The line grew behind us, with fairly obvious demonstrations of impatience and things muttered under our breath. Finally this woman turns to me and says, "Patience is a virtue, you know." I responded, "So it is, so it is."
But I keep revisiting that scenario, wondering what I might have done instead that would have worked better. But I'm having difficulty finding the answer.
So don't feel like The Lone Ranger...
