An option is to not try to stop these thoughts, but instead accept that they are there and go about your regular life anyways.
Such thoughts can be like that disagreeable relative who comes to family events and gets on my nerves. I cannot prevent them from coming, but I can learn to have a good time anyways.
People can reach their goals even in the presence of disagreeable thoughts and/or feelings. What if you
notice those thoughts,
acknowledge them in a civil but distant way, and then
proceed with regular life?
