I scared my wife and dog last night. It was horrible. I haven't had a night terror in many years. I had a terrible nightmare about my childhood neighbor who repeatedly raped my sister for years. He was lurking just outside my childhood house and to my horror, I discovered my brother had removed the lock to the door. I was screaming and panicking and in the dream, my family was acting as if nothing was wrong, everything was just fine. This man was like a grandfather to me and was very nice to us, none of us knew what he was really doing to my sister.

I woke myself screaming because I was so scared and I couldn't do anything. My wife told me to go get a drink. I went to the bathroom and kept asking myself if I was awake, was this reality? When I went back to bed, I felt panicky and then felt like I was disappearing--I haven't dissociated for well over a year. I don't know what brought all this on. . .I've just had a horrible day because I didn't really get any sleep last night.
