My bank gave me a credit card about 5 years ago. It's for emergencies like car repair or to be used for getting hotel rooms when traveling. I paid it off as quick as possible mostly I paid it off in one go before interest was due and built up my credit. Just cashed some points in for a free 150 dollar target gift card for Christmas shopping. I don't carry it with me so there's very little impulse shopping I'm not one for on line shopping ( too afraid of getting hacked)so it's good. Mostly I use my debt card for everything I can go on line and see how much I have, plus my bank sends me notifications if I spend over a certain amount. Since getting a debt card I haven't had a problem with overdrawing the account.
