Agreed, people have lost sight of the orginal traditions around this season. It doesn't help that we are bombarded with images of buying big and expensive gifts - all with the message that one's gift giving is a measure of their value. A real shame, don't you think?

It is time to break this mold and start new traditons less centered around displays of how much money we are spending and return to that which is more simple. For those who celebrate spiritually it is a bit disconcerting that this need for gift giving has out played their original meaningful traditions.

I say nip it all in the bud and find a new or old way to celebrate the Holidays.
