Interestingly enough, I was just talking to my T about this today. For us, we both agreed that there is no such thing as too much information, or oversharing.
Having said that, you shouldn't feel obligated to share anything you're not ready to share. Nothing should be forced. But, the more your therapist knows, the better they can help you.
A really good starting place would probably be the feelings you've expressed in this thread. If you are comfortable, tell your T the things you've said here, and see where the conversation goes. I'm betting it won't be as difficult as you think it is, and you'll feel some relief at getting it off your chest.
