So I got a work colleague at work who's phone's been broke for several weeks. I promised I'd try and get my old phone working for her and offered her it, but my old phone is completely dead, won't switch on at all even after being charged up. She knows my old phone is dead.

I found a cheap phone that I managed to get for her, after I already got a christmas present sorted for her. Would it be acceptable to tell her the cheap phone I came across is a "cast off"? Or would it be better to tell her I bought it special for her? She's going through a horrible time at the moment and want to do something nice to help her but I don't want to make her feel awkward (this word don't look like it's spelled right)
