Wellbutrin is half of the newer weight loss drug called Contrave. The other half is naltrexone, an anti-addiction drug. The theory is that naltrexone curbs your cravings, while bupropion decreases appetitite. After 56 weeks the average weight loss was 12lbs, with diet and exercise. (A quarter quit taking it because of the side effects.) Make of that what you will. I've never tried it but when I first started taking Wellbutrin it did curb my appetite. That wore off even when I increased my dose.
