Interesting question...
I've always been brought up with the same 'view' of what Jesus looked like that you have. As for God, He is able to take any form he so chooses... so yeah, not so great with imagining Him.
But if you're asking historically, (and this is just me with one Historical Jesus class under my belt) ... Jesus probably wasn't the most "white" or Caucasian person, simply from where he lived. Probably a darker complexion. But that's all I can say really.
He is who He is, He is who you imagine Him to be.
