In a way I can understand how you feel.

Only for me, I feel sad if I have to destroy or trash a piece of tech. I still have old computer parts from 10 years ago and the first smartphone I ever owned (one of the first 3G smartphones that ever came out mind you) all because it hurts me emotionally to trash some of this stuff.

Maybe the sadness from destroyed furniture stems from being poor at some point? I know my sadness of throwing away old tech stems from the fact that I could never afford good tech in my past. I remember spending countless hours drooling over high end PC parts for a top end gaming PC and fantasizing about having this big fancy gaming setup, meanwhile my family could barely afford to scrape by every month. Finally being able to build my first ever gaming PC (even though said PC wasn't any where near as high end as the builds I dreamed of having) made me happy. Trashing things that once brought me great joy hurts too much.
