I know that might seem a random reply, but at least you know that if their were real bugs in the house they wern't atracted to you- and to be fair, maybe it would take your mind off bugs because you knew you had the protective spray

I was going to suggest an antihistamine (something like Claritin) for the same reason. I'll take one before bed sometimes and it serves double duty. If there is an external reason I'm so itchy, it will tamp it down until I can address it in the morning. Otherwise, it helps distract from the thought by ensuring any "bites" don't itch.
