personally because i think we all often forget what is important and what really matters - worshipping God - and get sucked into the smallness of this world due to our egos. We tend to think that other people are key to our happiness/unhappiness, wealth/poverty etc and forget that it is God that ultimately decides. It seems to be a great human flaw to need to put down others in order to feel in control. But we should all remember that in the end who you are and what you do has no effect on what will happen to me and how i will be judged. I am only responsible for my sins.
Plus I guess within these global racial conflicts there must be some individuals that have been given the chance to stand up for what they believe in and therefore be a example to others.

"First they came for the Communists but I was not a Communist - so I said nothing.
Then they came for the Social Democrats, but I was not a Social Democrat - so I did nothing.
Then they came for the trade unionists, but I was not a trade unionist.
And then they came for the Jews, but I was not a Jew - so I did little.
Then when they came for me, there was no one left who could stand up for me."

Pastor Martin Niemöller
(Lutheran pastor and Holocaust Survivor)

Was there not a real life story of a priest in a concentration camp who gave up his life to save a father who had children? I think i remember reading that somewhere. That is an inspirational and thought-provoking story.
