I think your T might be hoping you'll get some memories of things you're missing from your childhood, from your response, "no I'm too old", like there's some rule somewhere that you can't love what you loved as a child, can't want love and care, etc. It's like there are two of you, the child and the grown up; I'd think about when the light switch was flipped? When did you become "too old". That seam doesn't need to be there, you can have a continuous stream of your life and move backwards and forwards in it as you desire, helping the child you with the adult sensibilities and cheering up the adult sensitibilities with the child, etc.
