example...
DID begins in childhood so everything associated with it starts in childhood so

if as a 4 yr old child I said "we need a drink of water",

A sibling or parent or teacher, friends or family....who ever was near by would ask "who are you talking about, you said we?"

if I said as a teen "We need a drink of water?" who ever was around while I was a teen would have asked who is we and why did you say that..

As an adult if I had said we need a drink of water my wife, my girlfriends from my adult pre marriage life would have asked who is we?

you see DID is a very special mental disorder where all the problems because of it begins in very early childhood and continues. so if this problem you had last night is related to you having DID you will know of other incidents in your childhood where this has happened before.

one thing I notice in your post, you said the voice was in your own voice. with me any time it was the alters speaking it was the alters voice I heard not my own. example when rainy was talking at night I spoke in rainy's tone of voice, with rainys vocabulary, sentence structure and with Rainy behaviors. When rainy was thirsty she got up, went to the bathroom got herself a cup, turned on the faucet, put water in the cup, then drank it, threw away the paper cup, then went back to bed. she did not say we need a drink she just knew she needed a drink and went and got it. Sometimes she would say a nursery rhyme or sing but because I wasnt an only child she knew not to make a lot of noise and talking at night that would get other siblings and parents woken up asking questions. the rhymes and songs she would whisper were in her voice not mine,
I have hardly any memory before age 8. I can remember my teachers and some friends but I remember nothing of my home life before the. Yeah when I was speaking to myself last night it was in my own voice but I have never said we to myself. I do however have what I would call unusual self talk. What other mental disorder could that be?
