There is always the option of purchasing canned or dry goods.

When I buy bulk, around 60-70% of my groceries are canned or dry. I buy a lot of canned stews, soups, ingredients, and meats, and dry foods like rice and beans. That way, if power goes down, I am good.

Also, I do agree that people in the grocery stores suck. I have little patience for them myself. Back when I lived with my step father, we went all the time late night when people were asleep. Grocery shopping is so much easier after hours.
