The dr and his front office are bound by HIPAA and possibly your state medical privacy law which restricts what they can share about you to pretty much nothing without your consent unless you are a danger or unless it falls under the TPO exception, TPO being Treatment, Payment, Operations. As has been mentioned above, if you pay them by credit card, they are entitled to having your credit card on file and that falls under the P part of TPO - they need to be able to run their business and the goal of their business is to treat your illness. I am sure that when you clear this paranoid period you yourself will easily see that. Give your medications a try!
