My previous post on this board is about sleep issues my 11 yr. old daughter is having. I think she is now developing sleep anxiety, which makes everything worse, and of course, the anxiety wears on as the night goes on, but now I think she has it even before going to bed, worrying she will not fall asleep that night and get maybe 1 or 2 hours of sleep before school in the morning and then worrying how she will be able to perform/get through the school day. I cannot keep her home every time this happens, or she will miss too much school.

How do you get over sleep anxiety? How do you help a child with it before going through the pediatrician/therapist/psychiatrist route? She shows no outward signs of other mental illness except mild sensory processing disorder and I am not certain if that is all mental or slightly physical too because of the delay of certain fine motor skills (though not skills that affect her day at school).
