we have a toddler insider who was the same way for many years.
our therapist worked specifically with her for a long time and developed a relationship with her, and eventually the toddler started, listening to what our therapist said, and finally stopped the biting and hitting. and since she has such a good relationship with T, she has been very motivated to learn to say new words in order to be able to talk to her. T also worked with her on her speech as well. T also learned some of the toddlers made up words that make no sense. Also taught her to count and say her ABCs. a lot of her speech is hard to understand. but she communicates with several of us now.
