Yep. I met Ickey Woods in an elevator in the Palmer House Hilton hotel in Chicago. He is famous for playing in the NFL, his signature move the “Ickey Shuffle” end zone dance, and has appeared in various TV commercials. The NFL draft was headquartered at the hotel at the same time as my work conference. We were both going to our rooms. As a younger person who doesn’t follow football or watch much TV, I had no clue who he was, but my colleague sure did! I’m not impressed by prestige or fame, but was impressed with him because of his friendliness and humble nature. He even posed for a picture with my colleague which was thoughtful! I talked to lots of famous NFL stars that trip without intimidation because I just saw them as regular people. The look on some of my (American) football loving colleagues’ faces was priceless!!
