I'm soooo sorry!!! I hate that, too!!! and had it happen far too many times. These days i highlight the whole post, copy it, then post it. I didn't know about what Rap suggested.
THough sometimes just when typing i manage to accidentally highlight the whole thing, then hit the next key and POOF everything is gone. If you can catch it quick enough (before typing another letter) you may be able to hit Ctrl Z and bring it back.
