How do you get past it? I know only one way - talking about it as many times, as often and as long as things start making sense. This is the essence of the therapy work and it takes as long as it takes.

Sometimes the whole topic just seems like a ridiculous one to spend time talking about. His explanation can make some sense for a while but then it eventually stops making sense. And I’d say I’m a pretty reasonable person so this whole topic and the fact that it’s not going away can be crazy-making.
