It sounds like you might wonder when to cite too, what sorts of things? Here's a combination plagiarism tutorial and how to cite and it looks like it covers MLA and APA (in text citations) which are pretty much the two biggies; MLA, or a version thereof is often used for liberal arts courses and APA for scientific/psychology/some graduate courses (education):
