My policy has been and remains only to discuss such things with people who have a need to know and tell each only as much as they need to know and can easily absorb. This basically works for me in my situation.
I find it best to adapt the approach and the presentation of information according to the role and character of the individual. Everyone doesn't need to know everything.
Your situation easily could be different. Minimizing the potential for harm may require significant, decisive action.
