Well, if you are Anglican, Church of England, or Episcopalean you would recognise the Archbishop of Canterbury as an important figure. I had the privilige of serving for him after which I spent the day fishing and BBQing with him. I met other famous people associated with church like Bishop Tutu and Shelby Spong, etc.

As a very young adult, I spent an evening chatting with George Thorogood. I didn't even know who he was until he was called to go out on stage. That was pretty cool.

I have met Chris Hadfield (Canadian astronaut). One of the Governors General of Canada attended my mother's funeral.

My father found himself sharing an elevator with the Dali Lama some years back. When they reached the bottom the door opened to flashing cameras and journalists. As he and the fellow parted ways, half the paparazzi followed my dad assuming he was someone important too.
