It went pretty well. Found out where to go okay. It was at the psychiatric hospital I go to anyway, just a different building.

I met with a social worker and nurse. They asked me stuff on my alcohol use, health and social circumstances.

The next step is being appointed a social worker who will handle my case and advise me on treatment. Another couple of weeks wait unfortunately.

They also said they can offer help to programs for getting back into work and stuff.

In the meantime I’m getting prescribed Thiamine to take as that’s a common deficiency with prolonged alcohol use. Or at least I will when GP gets the letter through. Also got a diary to record my alcohol use.

I will still be drinking for now. They said to try be more consistent in the amount I drink and if I feel comfortable making small cuts but that that wasn’t expected.

Feels like I’m taking a step forwards but it’s frustrating there is more waiting

Loial I’ve seen people go their whole lives without even realizing they have a problem much less wanting to change. You’re definitely taking steps forward even if it’s not moving fast enough for you.
