In my state you can ask for a same day decision in an emergency such as I have 0 money and 0 food and 2 kids to feed. Does your state allow Wick through age 4-5? Check the food stamp rules in your state or just call your local office and ask for a supervisor. You can explain that you know they legally have 30 days to make a decision but you are literally without food and need an emergency answer. Exaggerate a bit but DO tell them of all of the bills and being behind on rent. I hope that you have taken charge of the money so your husband can't use it on beer.

As for the ladies you work with, you are right it is not legal to discriminate like that but anyone can use any reason for not hiring. Tell the ladies too bad, you are there and their behavior is harassment and you will report if they continue. Just don't allow them to put you down and show that you know your stuff. What is that job? I think you are wise to get the assistant job at the day care. It probably would balance out with gas and all. Try going fore it! Why work at a job you hate if you have a choice?
