I grew up United Methodist. I was taught that everyone would go to heaven (those who believed in Christ) except murderers and some other group I can't recall. I learned most all the Scripture I needed for Bible College there though... but it took someone from another faith to tell me that I personally needed to accept Christ's payment on the cross so that I could go to heaven. I'm sure glad they did that, show me God's wondrous love!

That one of the Methodist groups/churches removed all hymns that pertained to the payment of sin through Christ's work on the cross, several years ago, is about all I know of changes and differences now between them. Sorry.
