Yes. It causes nails to separate from the nail bed. I had nail fungus too, on at least one of my nails. They were going to remove it (this was sometime in the 90s) but I chickened out at the last minute. After a lot of years it may have healed by itself because it's not that damaged anymore. There's a man here who has a really tortured thumb nail. It got twisted into a long claw that looks like tree bark.
And a nice nurse has some really bad fingernails, possibly from her nails never drying out.
