I'm so sorry you're going through all of this, Peter A! I agree with what all the others have already wisely said better than I ever could. You've been given a lot of great advice on this thread! I'd suggest to follow it if you can! There's definitely a lot of people who argue on the Internet and don't respect each other's opinions! Some of them are not trying to be mean and they are not doing it on purpose, while others are just downright bullies! I'd suggest to avoid this kind of people and discussions if it bothers you too much! Don't let their behavior turn you off, there are many wonderful people in the Internet as well, like here on PC! I hope you'll be able to find the right forums for you to talk about any videogames you like or other things you'd like to talk about!
