I think sometimes doctors see the self harm history and immediately think personality disorder. I do not know if you have a personality disorder, but the self harm thing alone doesn't seem like enough criteria to diagnose one. Maybe you could ask if you meet any of the other criteria, or get another opinion?
A similar thing happened to me when I had the med reaction to Lexapro and was very agitated and started having issues with SI/self harm for the first time in my life really, and my doctor started suspecting a personality disorder. He never ended up giving me a dx though, once I improved.
wildflowerchild25 I also wondered if my doctor made that assumption it might be my personality quicker since I am female.
Just want to say I do not fault anyone who does have a personality disorder, though.
