In my experience, therapists don't own their stuff, they always subtly (or not subtly) imply that this is all because of the client's "issues". It's pointless imo to expect them to own anything. Like someone else suggested, why not take a break? That way you can distance yourself from this mess and evaluate whether it's worth it to go back (it wasn't for me, eventually). I think it's a good idea to trust your gut.
