I agree with you. To be fair the quote doesn't say that all hurt people hurt people, but I can see why someone may take that interpretation.

The quote is alluding to generational trauma. It is horrible to think - but people who have been treated poorly often do treat others poorly in their lives. Doesn't mean they will of course.

When someone is traumatized, they can go one of two ways: they can become an empath, or a psychopath. It makes sense really.
