Anxiety has always been something I've struggled with, particularly social anxiety. And I almost always worked in vocational areas that required a lot of interpersonal contact. So my anxiety level was almost always over the top, so to speak.

There was a short period of time, when I was between positions in my regular field, I worked for a neighborhood big box home improvement center. I didn't make much money.

But it was some of the most enjoyable stress-free work I ever did. Looking back, I wish I had stayed there instead of returning to my regular field of work. I think I'd have been happier in the long run. Plus, as it turned out, a combination of medical & mental health issues conspired to drive me from the work-a-day world entirely only a few years later.

Good luck finding
your low-stress occupation.
