As far as your parents, you are probably correct - I can't say bc I wasn't there. Either way, what I can say - is you deserve to be happy. To do that, you will need to focus on yourself rather than them. You can neither change them not the past anyway - so why not make an awesome future for yourself instead of allowing the pain they dealt you as a child to hold you back even longer?
No, you are not going to forget. No, you are not going to heal overnight. But - you have to start at some point at some time. Why not here n now? All you need to do is keep reminding yourself "I can't change them - I can only change me" and develop a plan to reach the goal you want. Work on it step by step.
Try it out. See how it goes. I believe you can do it - bc I believe you are stronger than you think!
