I'm pretty sure the autism link has been debunked. Children are not allowed in public or even most private education systems without proof of up to date immunization records. I know, I submit 3 proofs a year. As someone with an autoimmune illness, I appreciate the value of the flu shot and those around me having one.
Speaking of vaccines and illnesses, I think the one for chicken pox is not only preventing outbreaks but there's some link to long term health damage in having it. And since I've a couple of decades to go before the shingles vaccine not worrying about the pox in my home creating an increased risk of my getting shingles is appreciated. Twice exposed = shingles is my understanding. I was out of school for week with the chicken pox as a kid.
