I did end up talking a bit about my concerns (but not with all the detail I mentioned here), and he was...I was going to say "quite reassuring" but realized that's not the right word. Basically, he made it clear that he was fine with it, that he didn't want my mental health care to be dictated by finances. And then we went on to discuss some other non-therapeutic-relationship-related topics.
