I think the best way to do the poll is a yes/no vote on the icons. Some, of course, we know DocJohn won't do, as he did remove the handgun for us... but then we can each anonymously vote yes or no on each one, and all can see if there's a big opposition to some icons. Does that sound good?

Lots of good ideas coming! I'm beginning to look on the World Wide Web for them... we probably should go through a weekend of posters before making the poll, I think.
