Yea, for sure. We peers need training on how to handle these situations because counselors shouldn't be the only ones who should know how to do 911 calls.

I agree. If you are to be talking to n working with potentially crisis stage suicidal people, you should know how to handle it properly. Otherwise it puts both the callers and workers health at risk.

And you're right. It's not a healthy job for me but I need the money. It's hard to find jobs nowadays. I think the issue is that I went into the wrong field: mental health. So now I'm trying to start over and that's causing even more stress.
What about for now, doing something with minimum stress within the mental health facilities.. like working at the reception desk or perhaps you can help with intake?

And I'm saving up money to move out. I love my mom to death but sometimes I wished she was more confrontational. However, I can't wait for her to do anything. I'm trying to create a life that makes me happy and I really do have to focus on myself. Thank you for your response.
I can tell you love your Mom. I think that's an awesome thing to see these days. So many dislike one or both of their parents - it's nice to see the love. ❤ That said, I am glad you are seeing the need to focus on yourself atm too. I don't think either of you will ever be totally happy there anyway if you are always unhappy - no matter how content your Mom is or is not. ❤

Thanks a lot for the encouraging words everyone. I'm doing a bit better now but I don't think this is something I'll ever forget. I brought up the fact that we peers should learn how to handle these calls to my supervisor and she agreed. Unfortunately, I don't think anything will be done about it.
If you honestly don't feel it will change - you can try going to her supervisor or the supervisor above that .. or come up with another more creative way to try to make a change happen .. or quit. I really would not reccommend staying where you know is an unsafe place for your mental health. Don't quit of course til you find other employment - but even if its flipping burgers at a fast food place, so long as that is something that would allow you to be mentally n emotionally stable - then that is better until you can find something within your field that will not threaten your health. ❤
