For me - I dislike the saying "respect is earned not given".

I think if you are living - you have "earned" respect.

Nobody can know what another has gone through before interacting with us - and that affects how that person interacts with us. So, even if a person acts poorly, does that mean they are not deserving of respect? I say no.

How do you know that person has not just been triggered by something - and you happen to be the first one the person interacted with, thereby taking the brunt of the reaction from the triggering .. ? Would you say any of us here .. even at our worst moments .. are not deserving of respect? If your answer to that is "no" (mine is) - then, all people deserve respect. Now - if and when a person upsets you (we all will at some point, part of being human) - explain what n why you were hurt.. If the person PURPOSELY (it may happen accidentally quite a few times before it stops altogether) then that is being blatantly disrespectful to you and should either be addresses as such with the person if you think it may help, or just end the relationship. But - you do not need to turn to disrespectfulness yourself. ❤

That's how I see it.
