I called my father, who is still in the psych hospital. The operator was obnoxious! In any case, after a struggle, I finally got through to him. He seemed clearly disoriented. He didn't remember that today is my birthday. I can understand that. However, he slurred his speech and was sort of confused. I told him it was my birthday and he said "How old are you? 43?" I simply thanked him for thinking me so young, and corrected him. He was off by more than a couple of years. I emailed my sister telling her he was disoriented and/or sedated. It sure would be nice to know why. Simply that he was just woken up at 10:30 am? That his medication is sedating? Cognitive issue? Had he been very agitated? Who knows! I don't even know what medication(s) he's on. I don't know if my brother knows (the main contact). My brother is the least knowledgeable about psych meds. Frankly, someone in the family SHOULD know. Don't you think? Especially for a 77 year-old man. My husband knows all (or almost all) of my medications, though maybe not the exact dosages.
It's rainy and depressing today. I woke up feeling so angry, but I've since calmed...sort of. I have zero interest in anything. We do have some mandatory chores to do. I need to help with them. Me being sick is depressing my husband a bit.
