Name brand meds can actually be cheaper when you are low income/uninsured because patient assistance programs provide the drugs free of charge. Even if you don't qualify 100% applying and providing an explanation that you still can't afford the co-pay for your medication they will usually grant exemptions and give you a year of free meds. I get several meds this way and I do have Medicare.
