I have adhd. My three kids all have adhd and my husband has adhd. When I had my last child I lost it. I had always had PPD with the kids but I also have BPII, GAD and PTSD. When she was 2.5 months old I went into the hospital and they found the magic combo of meds and it saved my life. Included in those meds was adderall and its been one of the most important meds I have ever had. I have absorption issues that cause me to be a fast metabolizer so I am on an above average dose but I would not have the life I have today if I hadn't been given it and if I hadnt had a good doctor. If you have taken adderall before there is no reason you should not get it again. Not sure if you can if you breastfeed but other than that you should be able to take it. Which doc prescribed it for you? Was it the doc who is dismissing you now? If this doc will not help you you need to find one that does. You have records reflecting your diagnosis and medication history right? A specialist or at least a good doc will read these records and should be willing to treat you. These meds are stigmatized and with the opiate crisis they are schedule II drugs like the opiods so some docs have a blanket policy involving all CII drugs and do not consider the intricacies with each of them.

Do not allow anyone or any doc minimize the struggles of adult adhd. It is very real and just as devastating. You have three kids now- think about that ratio- one mom-three priority people with needs. You are outnumbered girl! You deserve treatment. Have you ever done research about adhd to have a conversation with the doctor? if they know anything, they should at least be able to share their reservations and if you come armed with knowledge they should be able to see that you know yourself and your disorder.
