This time I didn't ask my son to carry down the container of kitty litter. It is a 14 kg bucket with handle from walmart. I decided to carry it down the stairs myself. That was not a good idea.
I have a wobbly ankle that is missing a ligament from falling on the ice a few winters ago, so inched the bucket down a few stairs at atime by standing sideways and then rotating it down from one step above me to one or two steps below. I think it was the last rotation that did it. I felt fine immediately afterwards but in about 10 minutes noticed some pain. By the next morning I had alot of pain to get up from a sitting position and take those first steps or
for that matter, to sit on the toilet. Mostly it is getting up from lying or sitting that is the problem. I go really slow like I was 90 years old or something and I am only 56.
I am pretty sure it is the gluteus medius muscle that I tore and I read on dr. google that it is weeks to months to heal and there can be problems with healing too.
So I am just taking it easy but also have to do things like bend down to feed the cat or do laundry.
It's how one thing leads to another. A bad ankle leads to a bad hip. My ankle injury is permanent. I am hoping the hip is not. It is too early for any kind of physio. Anyway i know the exercises to do as I had physio before for weak hip muscles, when I was recovering from my ankle injury. Now i am just more unstable and more likely also to fall. My bad ankle is getting more weight than it is used to because the injured hip is on the other side.
Well, I just wanted to get this out of my system. It is going to take some patience and just accept I have to live with pain at least for awhile.
